Mesotherapy is a nonsurgical method for localised fat and cellulite reduction and body contouring. The technique involves the injection of certain substances, via a very fine needle, underneath the dermal layer of the skin into the subcutaneous fat tissue in the area selected. The combination of substances injected may contain minute quantities of plant extracts, vitamins, enzymes, nutrients and peptides.
This treatment specifically targets small areas of resistant fat like the armpit folds, under arms, inner and outer thighs, double chin, love handles, saddle rolls and the tummy.
Cellulite on the other hand is the dimpled orange peel appearance of skin that occurs when the structural network holding adipocytes or fat cells is disrupted. This usually occurs as a result of excessive fat accumulation, poor circulation, toxin overload and depletion of the structural entities that hold soft tissue together.
The substances used in mesotherapy trigger lipolysis or fat breakdown that are cleared by the immune cells, thereby resulting in localised fat reduction. Other actives and combinations can be used to tighten the structure and improve the appearance of cellulite.
